“It is my pleasure to partner with Los Angeles County Sheriff John L. Scott and Patricia Wenskunas, the Director and Founder of Crime Survivors Inc., to develop the Resources for Survivors of Violent Crime in Los Angeles County brochures,” said Julie Nauman, Executive Officer of the California Victim Compensation Program (CalVCP). “Working with victims directly each and every day, I learn more about the devastating hardships victims endure as a result of another’s harmful choice. They need guidance and assistance. These brochures are a tangible, comprehensive resource for survivors in their time of greatest need and include vital information on how to get the help they need.”

Wenskunas brought Crime Survivors, the Los Angeles County Sheriff, and CalVCP together to revise and improve existing victim service publications and their delivery channels. Each agency lent their strengths to the project to make this crucial information more accessible and timely to those in greatest need. This collaborative approach empowers victims with helpful information from the moment a crime occurs and provides victims information on crisis support, how to find a victim advocate, their rights, and how to get help paying for crime-related expenses through CalVCP. Los Angeles County law enforcement, emergency services personnel, victim service providers, and victim advocates can confidently share the resource guide to make a positive impact for each survivor of violent crime they reach.
