Advisory Member Tustin Mayor Jerry Amante
Mayor JERRY AMANTE currently serves as Chair of the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) where he also serves as Chair of the Executive Committee, and as a member of the Legislative and Communication Committee, the State Route 91 Advisory Committee, the Transportation 2020 Committee, the ARTIC Ad Hoc Committee and the South Orange County Major Improvement Study Committee. He is Chair of the Central County Major Investment Study. He also serves as Chair of the Transportation Corridor System Board of Directors and as the Past Chair of the Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency (TCA) where he serves on its Finance and Operations Committee and as a member of its Legislative Committee. He also serves as a member of TCA’s Joint Ad Hoc Financial Options Committee made up of members of the Boards of Directors from each of the toll road agencies. Mayor Amante is the President and member of the Executive Committee of the Orange County Division of the League of California Cities and is a former Chair of the Orange County League of Cities Advocacy Committee. Mayor Amante also serves as a member of the County of Orange’s Growth Management Area Committee and the Santa Ana/Tustin Joint Powers Agency, and as an alternate to the Riverside Orange County Authority (ROCA).
Prior to his election to the City Council, he was appointed to the Tustin Planning Commission and served as its Chairman until he resigned in 2004 to run for office.
He has been active in the community in a variety of capacities. He has been a member and Pillar Sponsor of the Tustin Chamber of Commerce and has served on its Government Affairs Council and its Business and Economic Development Council. He is a proud graduate of the Tustin Citizens Police Academy. He is a member of, has volunteered for, supported and/or contributed to many community and civic organizations including the Tustin Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off Committee, the Tustin Boys and Girls Club, the Tustin American Legion, the Tustin Senior Center, the Tustin Public Library, the Tustin Area Historical Society, the Tustin Public Schools Foundation, the Tustin Millennium Exchange Club, the Tustin Community Foundation, the Orange County Lincoln Club, the Orange County Rescue Mission, the Orange County Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, and he currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Family Violence Project.
Mayor Amante has a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law. He is admitted to all California State and Federal Courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a licensed real estate broker. He owns a law firm that specializes in advocacy, strategy and government relations and owns a commercial and residential real estate brokerage firm. In addition, he is an Arbitrator on the Panel of Civil Arbitrators of the Orange County Superior Court.
Mayor Amante and his wife, Nancy, have lived in Tustin for 22 years. They have two children, Shawn and Paul, and two grandchildren, Erik and Danica.
